Healthy vegan cinnamon stars – easy and gluten-free, with only 4 ingredients.

I’m so glad you’re here 🙂 today we’re taking a trip to the Christmas bakery. Because what would Christmas be without cookies? Cookies are quasi the best thing after all when you sit together and enjoy a cup of tea.
My absolute favorite in cookie heaven are cinnamon stars. They just totally remind me of my childhood. You too? 🙂
But how do you make the perfect cinnamon stars, just like grandma did? It doesn’t have to be complicated at all – with four ingredients, healthy and delicious. Of course, this recipe is also vegan and even gluten-free.
What you need for it: actually only nuts, an orange, powdered sugar and of course cinnamon
- 200 g ground nuts (e.g. almonds, hazelnuts)
- 60 g (birch) powdered sugar
- 1 tbs cinnamon
- 3-4 tbs orange juice
- zest of ½ organic orange
- 1 pinch of salt
- Glaze:
- 6 tbs (birch) powdered sugar
- 1 tsp orange juice or lemon juice
- Mix all ingredients for the cinnamon stars in a bowl and knead into a dough.
- If the dough is a little too wet, add more nuts if necessary. Let dough rest in the fridge for about 1 hour.
- Take the dough out and preheat the oven to 220 degrees top and bottom heat.
- Roll out dough between two layers of baking paper or on some gluten-free flour to 1 cm thickness. Cut out stars and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Bake cinnamon stars in the center of the oven for about 6-7 minutes, depending on size.
- Cinnamon stars will still be slightly soft when removed. Let cinnamon stars cool briefly on a wire rack.
- For the glaze, mix all ingredients together to make a thick glaze. Brush the cinnamon stars with it.
