It’s getting green and pink today <3. This green goddess kiwi strawberry smoothie bowl is a refreshing mix with kiwi, basil, lemon and a pink strawberry touch.

While I was traveling in New Zealand in 2013, I learned about the kiwai and its history. Since then, I’ve another relation to kiwis and eat most of them unpeeled. With most of them I mean the organic ones, golden kiwis and some of the greens which aren’t that hairy (we have about 60 different kinds of kiwi sorts).
In New Zealand „Kiwi“ has actually three meanings. Kiwi – the bird, Kiwi – the fruit and Kiwi the person. The person is the resident of New Zealand, and this is how the story started, a kiwi in a kiwi country is telling me how to deal with a kiwi.
The story about the kiwi:
I’m standing in a really shabby hostel kitchen in Queenstown, holding a rusty knife, which is even more shabby and trying to peel a green kiwi. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a Kiwi who seems to eye me suspiciously. I look at him kind of shy and ask, not right?
He laughs a bit compassionately, takes a knife out of his pocket (that’s how it works for kiwis), cut the ends off, slips a spoon between skin and flesh and spoons around the circumference of the fruit. Yeahii, this was easy. Then he told me that I’d be better buying a golden kiwi next time to make sure I can’t fail. Thaaaaaank you Master Kiwi for showing me how I master the kiwi-peeling. Lucky me I haven’t tried to peel a golden one :).
Since then I do have a wonderful relation to New Zealand Kiwis. Somehow they are always juicy and full of flavor. Especially the. They get harvested after they ripened perfectly which lead to their great taste.
Health Facts:
Kiwis are extremely nutritious, packed with more vitamin c than an equivalent amount of orange and full of antioxidants. You might know my love for these little aging killers :). <3 And then, we have numerous phytonutrients as well as well-known vitamins and minerals that promote our health.
Thanks for showing me how I master the kiwi-peeling.
