June was definitely very transformative, and certainly an exciting month for all of us. What has been going on in the world for the last few months is connected with a wave of emotions, and I think we all need more self-care right now than ever. At this point I would also like to stress once again that self-care does not mean that you are selfish and only care about yourself. On the contrary, it means that we are filling up with energy ourselves and then sharing our newfound strength with others. So what is new in June 2020? In this blog post I’ll tell you some of my favorite recommendations. As always, I’ve focused on the most important things: what I’ve watched, what I’ve heard or read, what I’ve found and what I’ve created.

WHAT I’VE WATCHED in June 2020: GOOP LAP
Even though I still don’t own a Netflix myself, I am now allowed to use my friends’ access 🙂 In June I watched two episodes of the series Goop Lap, which impressed me so much that I now want to watch the other episodes as well. Goop Lap is about self-experiments, self-optimization and healing. So far, the Netflix series has been either very positive or very critical. For some it’s hocus-pocus, others see a deeper meaning in it. Anyway, I’ve learned a lot and I want to encourage you to see for yourself. Especially when it comes to self-confidence and sex, I am sure we women can all learn something. From vulva to true vulnerability – here, together with an experienced sex educator, we explore female sexuality. On this topic Diana and I have also recorded a podcast episode “About all the things women don’t usually talk about”– enjoy!
*WHAT I’VE FOUND in June 2020 – SOCIAL-BUSINESS MAP
The word greenwashing is appearing more and more frequently on social media. Especially in connection with the bashing of certain brands that declare themselves as sustainable. But where does sustainability actually begin and where does it end? Sustainability is not a protected term. That’s why I find it difficult to believe certain brands. And sometimes, on the other hand, I trust labels far too quickly. In June I was more concerned with this. I talked to Anna from the independent eco-energy provider and social business Polarstern on the phone and learned these important things:
This time I am right to believe Polarstern. Polarstern is a social business and is committed to making the world greener and fairer. Social Businesses understand that the economy must serve people – and not the other way around. Their goal is to use economic means to address social challenges. For a social business, profit is a means to an end and not an end in itself. In the case of Polarstern, this is even regularly checked externally in a public interest balance sheet. I find their social business map particularly helpful, as it saves us a lot of research. It is updated regularly and is a great start and a good motivation to deal more with honest sustainable business.
WHAT I’VE HEARD in June 2020: WAS WEISSE MENSCHEN NICHT ÜBER RASSISMUS HÖREN WOLLEN (WHAT WHITE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT RACISM)
Since the movement #BlackLivesMatter, I know when it comes to racism, sometimes not where up and down is. I constantly question myself, may I say this, is it racist? The insecurity then leads to the fact that sometimes I prefer to keep silent in order not to say anything wrong – and that is quite untypical for me. Normally I don’t care so much about my behaviour and rather go through the world according to the motto “The tone makes the music and mistakes are forgiven”. But here the wounds are just too deep. That’s why I listened to this audio book on Spotify and learned why questions like “Can I touch your hair?”, “Can you get sunburned?” or “Where do you really come from?” are racist. I would also like to record an episode with a BPOC for my podcast “Conscious Gangster”.
WHAT I’VE CREATED in June 2020 – EBOOK “MIX YOURSELF HAPPY”
I am really incredibly happy that my book “Mix yourself happy” is now available as an English ebook – now only my shop is missing and the whole thing is ready. You can find a video here: “Mix yourself happy”: It’s about a philosophy and 66 recipes that will make you happy.
Also new or rebranded is my podcast: The joint project “Green and happy” by Diana and me has now become “Conscious Gangster” with me.
What were your monthly favorites?
Love,
Annelina
