As probably all know only a little number of people actually achieve their New Year’s resolutions.
To overcome and extend this little number I’d love you, to tell your friends and family about your New Years Eve resolutions. This helps a lot to follow them and stay stronger. Also, there is always one person who has similar resolutions or want to achieve them with you. And now, it’s this time of the year again. 2018 is almost there. Are you ready for 5 New Year’s Resolution Ideas which you can simply achieve for a healthier and happier you?
Consume less, avoid one-way plastic
Use a durable stainless steel drinking bottle for tap water
Use a recup for coffee or try to avoid the plastic lit
When you are eating out, try to carry cutlery as bamboo cutlery with you to avoid plastic cutlery
Take a canvas bag or basket for shopping or reuse paper bags. I keep my recycled paper bags for using them the next time again.
Go to local farmer markets or „second selections food stores“ and also buy misfits. (I used to ask at the farmer markets if its self-produced or where they got their products from)
Clean your room and eat mindfully
Tidy up your room from unhealthy snacks and foods and throw out all the junk food you get addicted too. Unhealthy snacks we get addicted to are rich in fat, sugar or salt.
Being mindful when eating can help us to shed pounds. A wonderful start is to focus on eating. Means, when you eat, YOU EAT. No tv, no phone or anything else.
Take the bike or public transfer instead of a car
We all know the health benefits of riding a bike or going by foot. Although we know them, we are sometimes just too comfy for cycling and need to remind ourselves that biking is cheaper than a gym membership, better for the environment and amazing for our mental health.
Digital detox
Be aware of THIS moment and try to stay focused. We always tend to get distracted by our cellphone, the tv or a message popping up on our screen.
You might feel more present if you switch your cellphone into flight mode for a couple of hours each day.
Janine wrote a really great Blog post about Digital Detox. Reading through you’ll also pass my statement on it.
Do something you usually don’t do
For example:
- try new sports, take some time for yourself and don’t hustle through life
- Give someone a call you’ve always wanted to but have never done it
- Start your day with warm Curcuma water followed by a morning run or workout
- Meet new people to get out of your bubble and comfort zone
Following routines can be really great and time-saving but can hold us back from exploring new things. Sometimes it feels like we are stuck in a rut and miss out a lot of self-growing opportunities.
Great New Year’s Resolutions are about happiness, health, you and a better you. This will bring awareness to our habits and a beneficial and sustainable side-impact on our world.
I wish you all a wonderful and mindful start into 2018. If you’d like to extend this list, I’d be really happy about your thoughts.
Lots of love and light
